Getting there

The conference venue is at the Book tower, the University library Ghent, Rozier 9, Ghent, easy to locate from wherever you are in the city center!
By train from the train station Gent Sint-Pieters:
  • Take tram 1 on the side of the station 'Korenmarkt' or 'Evergem'. Get off at ‘Verloren kost’. The conference venue is close by, a 2 min. walk. Take the Joseph Plateaustraat, then the first street on your right, Lovelingstraat and the first street on your left, Rozier.
  • Take bus 8 in front of the station (platform 5), direction ‘Zuid’. Get off at ‘Blandijnberg’. The conference venue is right around the corner.
By car:
  • From the E40 Brussels-Ostend motorway : Take exit Kortrijk-Gent-Antwerpen and follow in the direction of 'Gent centrum', then follow 'alle richtingen' and take the far right exit next to the fly-over, then turn left at the traffic lights, continue to 'Heuvelpoort' and turn right (Overpoortstraat). Continue driving in the Overpoortstraat past Sint-Pieters square (with underground car park) where the Book Tower can clearly be seen, then carry on to Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat. The second street on the left is Rozier, i.e. the entrance of the Book Tower.
  • From the E17 Antwerp-Kortrijk motorway : Take exit the Kortrijk-Gent-Antwerpen and follow in the direction of 'Gent centrum', then follow 'alle richtingen' and take the far right exit next to the fly-over, then turn left at the traffic lights, continue to 'Heuvelpoort' and turn right (Overpoortstraat). Continue driving in the Overpoortstraat past Sint-Pieters square (with underground car park) where the Book Tower can clearly be seen, then carry on to Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat. The second street on the left is Rozier, i.e. the entrance of the Book Tower.

Hotels

The DRIVER team has made arrangements with five hotels in Ghent for the nights of the 19th and the 20th of October. Bookings can be made until September 20th, after that, the prices remain the same but availability is no longer guaranteed. All hotels are in walking distance from the conference venue. Breakfast is always included in the price.

For those wanting to make their stay personable, there are also many Bed and Breakfast facilities. Highlights of such facilities are 'Verzameld Werk' and the two 'Design and Breakfasts'.

  1. Hotel Court St Georges

  2. Ibis Hotel 'Opera' and 'Cathedral'

    Both of these Ibis hotels are situated close to the conference venue. The closest is Hotel 'Opera' , with rooms for 98,5 € for singles and 112,5 € for doubles.

    Hotel 'Cathedral' also has rooms available for resp. 108€ and 122€ a night.

  3. NH Hotel 'Belfry'

    This bright and spacious luxury hotel is next to the town hall and the venue for the conference dinner. Rooms are 149€ for a single, incl. breakfast.   4. Ghent River Hotel

    This beautiful four star hotel lies on the water, situated right in the historical centre, and offers picturesque rooms in a newly renovated building. Rooms are available from 140€ for a single and 160 € for a double. Breakfast included. Reservation code DRIVER Ugent.
